Test mode

Develop your application using Flexpa's test mode.

To trigger test mode, use your test mode API keys for the Flexpa Consent authentication flow. Test mode functions like live mode, except the data returned is not real patient data.

Flexpa provides test mode support for all three data sources in our 3-in-1 network: health insurers, medical record systems, and nationwide exchange. Each source has specific test credentials and synthetic data to help you build and validate your integration before going live.

Flexpa Sample Patient uses Medplum, an open-source, headless EHR and FHIR server. Flexpa maintains a Medplum account for use in Test mode. We have populated this account with synthetic patient data that is representative of the structure seen in live mode for major payers. We will continue to add new synthetic data for the payers and plan types customers need, so let us know at support@flexpa.com

#Nationwide exchange

The below test accounts support the full IAL2 verification flow with complete demographic data and return both test documents from the QHIN sandbox and Flexpa-managed fixtures.

#Test Documents

All test mode TEFCA connections receive Flexpa-managed fixture documents in addition to any data from the QHIN test sandbox. The first fixture is a Continuity of Care Document for Jane Doe at Flexpa Test Medical Center (document ID FLEXPA-TEST-001), containing patient demographics, allergies to Penicillin, Lisinopril medications, and a Hypertension problem list. The second is a Hospital Discharge Summary for the same patient (document ID FLEXPA-TEST-002) with history of present illness, hospital course, and a non-cardiac chest pain discharge diagnosis.

Test fixtures are automatically included for all test mode users, providing consistent, reliable test data alongside real QHIN sandbox responses.

View the complete Continuity of Care Document and Discharge Summary examples on GitHub.

#Medical record systems

Test mode provides access to EHR vendor sandbox environments for development and testing. Use the following test patients to verify your integration:

EHR SystemUsernamePassword
Epicfhirelijahepicepic1
CernerwilmasmartCerner01
Athenaphrtest_preview@mailinator.comPassword1

Test mode sandboxes return synthetic patient data from each EHR vendor's test environment. Sandbox data may differ from production implementations in terms of resource completeness and data quality.
