Going live
As you get ready to use Flexpa in your production application, below is a list of recommended steps to take before launching your Flexpa integration.
While they might not all be required for the minimal operation of your application, the steps below will help to make your Flexpa integration more robust, secure, efficient, and maintainable.
#Understand Flexpa
In order to best use Flexpa to power your claims-related use cases, we recommend reading the following topics:
Let us know what questions you have!
#Create a Flexpa Portal workspace
In Flexpa Portal, you can create your organization's workspace and invite other team members to collaborate. We expect a Flexpa Portal workspace to be created in order to both test your application and also to fill in necessary details to promote your organization to production.
#Test your application using Flexpa
Via test mode, Flexpa has a wide set of testing partners and synthetic patient credentials available for you to build against prior to moving to live mode.
These test endpoints can help you embed Flexpa Link and pull various FHIR Resources against a wide set of data prior to incurring any costs.
This step is generally the most time-consuming, but it's also the most important as you determine how you want to use the claims data to power your application.
#Submit application for live mode
After sufficient testing, you can request live mode access. As you do, we'll ask you complete some details about your company, which are required to move forward:
#Billing details
Live mode has straightforward and predictable usage-based pricing, so as you use Flexpa in live mode, you'll be charged on a monthly basis based on your usage.
In order to fulfill our commitments to data exchange partners and also meet privacy and security standards necessary for protecting patients, we have a short series of questions you'll need to answer about your organization.
Some of these details are basic, such as:
- Organization name
- Business address
- Tax Identification Number
We require that you document and register privacy policy and terms of service for patients. Organizations that do not yet have privacy policies or terms of service cannot be promoted to live mode. We recommend the ONC Model Privacy Notice if you need an example to get started, as it outlines key considerations to help developers clearly convey information about their privacy and security policies to their users.
In particular, we expect transparency towards the patients you serve about the data access, retention, and deletion, so we'll ask several questions about your policies there (which will be displayed to patients in the Flexpa Link flow).
#Sign the Flexpa service agreement
After setting up your billing details and submitting the live mode access form, please allow some turnaround time as the Flexpa team reviews and provides feedback.
If all details are in order, you will receive a DocuSign for the Flexpa Service Agreement.
Once signed, you'll be approved and ready to use Flexpa in production capacities to power your application with real claims data!
#Common live mode questions
#Can I test Flexpa in live mode?
If you'd like to see real data pulled via Flexpa prior to moving forward with integrating your application, you can use MyFlexpa.
#Can I use live mode prior to paying?
In terms of using the Flexpa API in live mode, you must complete the steps above. We do not have a free plan for live mode today, but we do offer simple and transparent pricing so that you only pay for what you use.
